Seven Tips for Shopping on Amazon Prime Day!

It is the most wonderful time of the year! Amazon Prime Day!

Amazon Prime Day was created a few years ago for Amazon.com to boost sales of their products in the summertime. This event was similar to Black Friday events, but it also included limited time deals, subscribe and save deals with coupons, and deals that lasted all day. The products offered on Amazon Prime Day usually range from electronics and clothing to food products and household items.

Here are seven tips for shopping on Amazon Prime Day:

Tip #1 - Remember to download the Amazon app to receive notifications of limited time deals.

Tip #2 - At the beginning of Amazon Prime Day, remember to examine all of the limited time deals and then add these deals to your notification/watch list on the Amazon app.

Tip #3 - Determine if you need to purchase an annual subscription to Amazon Prime, Amazon Music Unlimited, or Amazon Kindle Unlimited before the day begins.

Tip #4 - Purchasing Amazon gift cards from Kroger or other stores that offer fuel points for gift card purchases.

Tip #5 - Use online shopping portals that offer rebates or airline miles for using their link to access Amazon. These shopping portals can include E-bates, American Airlines, United Airlines, and others.

Tip #6 - Set a budget before you begin shopping on Amazon Prime Day. It is easy to spend more money than you anticipate spending.

Tip #7 - Develop a list of items that usually appear on your weekly/monthly shopping list, then look for these items when the Amazon Prime list becomes available.

These simple tips can help everyone create a strategy for one of the most important savings days of the year! Remember to prepare a strategy and you can save money on items that you will purchase anyway.

This post contains affiliate links to help you build your shopping list and travel list for your family. We are passionate about the product and the experiences listed in this post, but we also wanted to provide easy links you can click to purchase products for your busy lifestyle.

Have a great week and plan for the weekend!

Sincerely,

The @WeekendsCount Family!

Save Money on Weekend Travel Costs at DAISO!

Planning a weekend trip? Need to a few travel items, but don't want to spend a lot of money or time shopping? Then head over the nearest DAISO store!

DAISO is like many other dollar stores except that most items are $1.50 instead of $1.00 or 99 cents. That extra fifty cents allows the store to carry some items you wouldn't find at a typical dollar store.  This includes several travel items like passport covers, sewing kits, luggage straps, travel pillows, and air cushions!

If your kids get restless on road trips or plane rides, DAISO also carries a variety of toys!

Have you shopped at DAISO yet?  What did you find?

Let us know in the comments!

KidFest at Belk Department Stores! Experience Fashion Shows, Refreshments, and Games While Shopping

We hope you are having a great week!

This weekend, we had a great time shopping at the Belk Department Store in Weatherford, Texas. It was such a great experience and I had a chance to shop for my little one! As a mom who works 50+ hours a week, it is such a rare treat to shop by myself (at least for a few moments). My little one and my husband stopped in front of the store to enable me to enter the store in VIP style while they caught a quick breakfast treat at Taco Cabana (three minutes away).

When I entered the store, it was a great experience. When I found the children's department, I immediately checked out the stations before my little one joined our shopping and KidFest adventure! Check out our purchases and video recap from the adventure!

In anticipation of the upcoming moments of fun, I quickly discovered six simply beautiful southern outfits for children (including two smocked dresses) and then received a telephone call from my husband informing me that he was on his way!

I met him and then the fun with my preschooler began! She enjoyed the stations and had a great time meeting the Weatherford High School Cheerleaders who were volunteering during the event. The event was complete with snacks and make and take crafts for the little ones!

Have a great week and plan for the weekend!

KidFest at Belk - Experience Fashion Shows, Refreshments, and Games While Shopping!

After high school, I attended Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) in Nacogdoches, TX to pursue a degree in Communication Studies. The small town of Nacogdoches was great for me and it also enabled me to experience quality shopping experiences each weekend. My sorority had a lot of functions on the weekend and I always had to have quality clothing for volunteer events, socials, and ceremonies.

Although I did not have a lot of money in college, I always saved my money for shopping and brunch on Saturday morning. This Saturday morning shopping experience was enhanced by the opening of a new store, the Belk Department Store. They had beautiful dresses, outstanding handbags, and a unique jewelry! In fact, I still have a few items from my Saturday morning shopping experiences.

Now, child is the highlight of my shopping experiences. I love finding quality children's clothing items for her (especially for the beginning of school). Last year, I was fortunate to visit Nacogdoches when visiting my mother. The highlight of our trip was a $350 visit to Belk. Yes, it WAS a lot of money, but this was the most quality shopping experience that was had! My primary purchase included smocked dresses by the Marmallatta company. I love this company and I was pleased to find them at Belk! This has been the ONLY places that I have been able to find these dresses for my little one.

Today is your lucky day! Belk is having their KidFest today (Saturday, July 30th from 12pm to 3pm)! This event will feature kid-centric fashion shows, refreshments, and games! It is a great family-friendly event and you can save up to 50% off kids apparel! Maybe we will find some smocked dresses as well!

Please share this post and we cannot wait to share our purchases with you!

Get Rid of Cable and Save Toward A Vacation or Pay Down Debt

Is cable or satellite TV getting too expensive?  Having trouble saving for important things like vacations? Then cut the cord and stream your TV over the Internet.

Get Rid of Cable and Pay Down Debt

We use the Roku for our TVs.  There are several Roku versions from which to choose.

The streaming stick is the cheapest option.

Roku Streaming Stick
Roku Streaming Stick plugs in to TV's HDMI port
Other models include the Roku HD and Roku 3.  We have each of these models and a streaming stick.  When you log into your account, you will have the same  channels on each device, but they may be in a different order.

Roku 3
Roku 3

Roku HD
Roku HD

There are several preset channels and free channels you can add.  ABC and NBC have channels that let you watch some new episodes for free.  We watch YouTube videos this way.

Their are pay channels for Roku, but we don't add any of those channels.

Roku competitors include the Amazon Fire Stick and Apple TV.

You could buy one stick and move it to different TVs or buy one for each TV.  You might also get a digital antenna for local channels.  We do this as well.  You can find inexpensive ones at Walmart, Target, or BestBuy.

Sling by Dish Network is an add-on service for $20 a month.

The package includes popular channels like ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, HGTV, CNN, History Channel, A&E, and Lifetime.

You can cancel at any time.

Once cable introductory offers end, the cost difference can be substantial.

For local channels, you can buy a digital antenna.

With the money you save, you can begin saving to afford a great vacation getaway.

Question: What tips do you have for saving money on TV costs?

10 Reasons to Shop the Just Between Friends Sale in Fort Worth, TX

When I enter my child's room each morning, I experience a genuine moment of panic. What will she wear to daycare this morning? She is in the frilly, pink, pretty princess stage and I struggle with the daily phrase, "Mommy - I do not want to wear this, I want to wear my princess dress".
Well, this mom is completely out of frilly, pink, pretty princess dresses because we are in need of a larger dress size for my little one. Perhaps, I should select clothing that is more durable for the daily spills and toddler-friendly, but sometimes I just like to make my little one's day.
