Travel Hacks You Need To Try On Your Next Trip - Guest Post

This week, we have a GUEST POST! Introducing Josh!

About Josh - Josh Cornehell is a marketing specialist professional that helps attract customers, convert leads, or even close customers. Josh has been working professionally in this field since 2008. Have a great week and plan for the weekend!

The adventure of traveling starts even just at the moment you are looking for cheap flights and accommodations. Whether your intent is to unwind or to thrill, nothing makes your tour more pleasant than making sure you a capable of tackling any problems that might occur. Hack your travel and have a great trip with these simple yet street-smart notes.

Download offline Google maps to save data.

For some, it is almost impossible to get around without Google Maps. However, buying a sim card in another country can be pricey for just a short stay and you can’t always expect wi-fi to be available either. Good news is, the latest versions of Google Maps allows users to save destinations for later offline use. Simply type in ‘ok maps’ in the Google Maps search bar and load your starting and end points.

Plug in on a Smart TV.

Losing or forgetting your wall plug is a major hassle especially when your battery is running low. If you’re booked in a hotel, look for the USB connector on the back or side of the TV. You can plug your device in that way to get some needed charge.

Make backup copies of your documents.

You can never tell if you’re next in line of theft or loss incidents. Better safe than sorry. Make copies and take screenshots of your passport, booking confirmation, hotel reservation and all other documents regarding your trip. Have printed copies on hand and also send digital copies to your email or even save copies on a USB stick and on your phone. This step is a lifesaver.

Mark your bags as fragile when checking in.

Aside from ensuring the careful handling of your luggage during transfers, your luggage will also be given top priority in the storage. This means you won’t be waiting too long to get your bag back in the conveyor belt.

Get unlimited water at the airport for free.

Airport security keeps an eye on liquids. As much as you want to bring water bottles with you due to the hefty price of beverages inside the airport, you really cannot. Just bring an empty bottle or canteen and refill it at the water fountains after you’ve passed security.

Switch to incognito settings when looking for flights.

Aside from just clearing the cache technique, private browsing will also save you from hiked up prices especially when you visited multiple times from price watching.

Follow airlines’ social media accounts.

Airlines these days have flash discounts and limited seat sales offer which are announced on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Check their pages and compare deals before booking.

Use ATMs to get local currency.

Money changers charge hefty fees for buying local currency. Use your card and withdraw from local ATMs as you’ll get a minimal charge from your banks foreign exchange protection feature.

Keep some snacks or instant food handy.

There are many cases when you get hungry quickly and food service is hours away. Bring some instant oatmeal in a Ziploc bag or a packet in case you get hungry on the plane and just ask for hot water. Crackers in packets, gum and mints are always a good idea too.

Bring collapsible laundry bags.

These are extremely helpful when separating your clothes in your luggage. You can easily separate clean clothes from the dirty ones. They can also double as a containers for smaller items so they don’t get lost among everything else in your luggage.

Fanny pack it.

They may look out of style but fanny packs are extremely helpful. They let travelers easily keep an eye on their belongings and keep valuables organized and intact in one small pack. Passing security checks will also be less of a hassle.

Upgrade your luggage allowance for free.

This is one underrated travel hack for packing. If you’re planning to go shopping, bring an extra duffel bag inside your luggage. In case you go over the weight limit, you can move some of your stuff on the duffel bag as hand carry.

Mix and match your tickets.

Ever tried booking two one-way tickets? Book your arrival and returning tickets from different airlines as prices can even be lower. You might also score a flight on the time you like.

Don’t forget to cover yourself up.

May it be a summer season or sunny tropical all-year round on your destination, always bring a pair of pants, long skirts, and long sleeves, according to ecomparemo.com travel advisories. Aside from protecting yourself from unexpected weather change, act accordingly especially on conservative places.

Thanks Josh!

Sincerely,

The @WeekendsCount Family!

8 Reasons Why We Love Imperfect Foods - Plus an Unboxing!

We've had Imperfect Foods for a few months and we are very satisfied with the company, their customer service,  and their selection of products. Our meal planning and our diet have been focused on the Imperfect Foods deliveries.

We've have chances to try new products and experience new fruits through our Imperfect Foods deliveries. Some individuals subscribe to international food boxes to experience international fruits and vegetables, but we just add them to our Imperfect Foods Delivery schedule. :)

This post contains affiliate links to help you build your shopping list and travel list for your family. We provide easy links for you to click to make your busy lifestyle easier!

Here are the TOP 8 Reasons WHY WE LOVE Imperfect Foods!

1 - The Selection of Products

Seriously, these Imperfect Foods products change each week and I look forward to their list every week! It is just like a cherry to the top of my week! :) So, if you see a product you like,  order A FEW of them! You never know if they will be on the list during the next week.

2 - The Ease of Ordering

It is very easy to order products! It is almost as easy as Amazon and they send an email to you when the ordering window opens and when it is closes.

3 - The Freshness of Products

We love that the meat and cheese products are on ice when they are delivered. Even in the middle of summer. PERFECT!

4 - The Organic and Conventional Products

If you want organic, they have it! If you would like conventional products (non-organic) they have them as well!

5 - You Can Avoid the Grocery Store

You do not have to walk in the grocery store during COVID! This is super important!

6 - Groceries are Delivered to Your Home!

Seriously, it is like the Jetsons.

7 - Items are Less Expensive Than the Grocery Store

Yes, some items are less expensive than the grocery store! SO excited about this!

8  - Meal Planning is MADE EASY!

Imperfect Foods enables users to plan their menus in a healthy way!

We love Imperfect Foods. It is a great experience that I look forward to each week. Try it out!

Reviewing Imperfect Foods (An Unboxing) - Plus a Coupon Code! Great for Travel!

During the pandemic, we tried to avoid large grocery stores and big box stores. This meant that we had to find innovative ways to shop for groceries. In the past, I ordered groceries through the mail from other companies and some them are not in business any longer, but we decided to try a new company.

We tried Imperfect Foods, which was PERFECT for us because we are located in a rural environment that does not offer grocery deliveries. I wanted to wait until it was at the PERFECT time to review our experience with Imperfect Foods, because I wanted to provide an authentic review for the blog.

We've ordered Imperfect Foods boxes every two weeks. When we began our journey with Imperfect Foods, the shipping was FREE (which was great) and we ordered boxes every week. However, now shipping is $6.99 per week and we have to make the order worth the shipping cost. SO, we tend to order more every two weeks than we were ordering in our weekly orders.

The company has a three day window for users to choose their groceries and a common delivery day is set for each area. We add these days to our iPhone calendars and it makes the process easy.

As a busy mom, I tried companies like Hello Fresh to help with my busy lifestyle. However, I did not have time to create the meals for my family. I like the Crock Pot approach. Typically, I do not have time to visit the grocery store (and now I do not want to visit the grocery store) and Imperfect Foods is an amazing resource.

This is great for meal planning!

Okay, What's the Bad Part?
Well, let me begin with... Imperfect Foods has AMAZING customer service and anytime we experience a problem, they are very responsive to our emails (even through texts). Without question, they have the best customer service..period!

However, with any company they have to rely on shipping companies to transport their products. Sometimes, the products are late or damaged, but keep in mind that you need to read the paragraph above. They have great customer service! (By the way, this is not a sponsored post).

So, What are You Waiting For?
Make your order today. Here's my referral link and you will receive a certain percentage off of your order. :) - http://www.tinyurl.com/imperfectweekend

10 Top Teaching Tools from the Dollar Tree (Great for Summer and Back to School)

10 Top Teaching Tools from the Dollar Tree

Many communities have a Dollar Tree in their community usually located in close proximity to a Walmart store. These stores usually have everything from arts and craft supplies to books. All of the items available for purchase for $1 or less. Here is a list of items that each household should consider having on hand for teachable moments in their household and also while traveling.

1 - Educational Flash Cards - These cards are more affordable than purchasing 3x5 cards and making your own cards. From cards focused on the alphabet and numbers to addition and multiplication cards, this simple purchase can help busy parents help their children.

2 - Word Strips - Instead of cutting strips of paper and writing sight words on each strip, consider purchasing pre-made word strips from the Dollar Tree. These strips are age level or grade specific and focus on a common theme. Some items are school supply related while others are focused on food themes.

3 - Writing and Learning Worksheet Packs - The Dollar Tree has printed packs of writing and learning worksheets for pre-kindergarten children, kindergarten, and 1st grade to 6th grade. These are potentially great for parents and environmentally friendly because they do not require parents to use a printer and ink for worksheets.

4 - Educational Booklets - In addition to worksheet packs, the Dollar Tree has age and grade appropriate books that focus on mathematics, reading, critical thinking (mazes), and coloring.

5 - Science Items - Most Dollar Tree stores have science items for children. These science items usually include: plastic test tubes, plastic tweezers, lab goggles, and bug viewers.

6 - Science Experiment Kits - Some Dollar Tree stores offer science experiment kits that have almost everything in the pack to make your own snow. Other kits are available as well.

7 - Art Supplies - From finger paint and glue to popsicle sticks and markers, the Dollar Tree has most art supplies that families need.

8 - Tools - Dollar Tree stores have plastic tool boxes, screwdrivers, sandpaper, screws, hammers, and other materials needed to construct a toolkit for your children. Older children usually enjoy having their own tool kit with their name on the box.

9 - School Supplies - From folders and scissors to posters and stickers, the Dollar Tree has most school supplies that families need to have on hand when teachers request them for the classroom. Parents can think ahead and purchase additional school supplies for their school children.

Have a great week and plan for the weekend!

Sincerely,

The @WeekendsCount Family!

How Parents Can Prepare for the Tax Season

How Parents Can Prepare for the Tax Season

Tax season is always a challenging season for parents. They have to determine how  they are going to integrate taxes with everything else they are encountering in their day-to-day life. From the new baseball games and graduation activities to prom and meetings with teachers, parents are busy. Parents should consider keeping the following tips in mind when preparing for their taxes.

1 - Place all of your tax items in a separate zipper folder. Your important tax items can remain there until they are ready for your Tax Date.

2 - Set aside specific dates and times for your Tax Date. This date needs to be added to your schedule on your phone or in your planner. You need to keep your date and avoid being late.

3 - Consider a night date. After the kids are asleep, you can simply turn on your computer and get ready for tax season.

4 - Know about your tax deductions. Each year, many individuals fail to identify relevant tax deductions until it is too late. You do not want to leave any relevant tax deductions on the table.

5 - Have a family member check your work and to highlight any potential deductions that you missed.

6 - Call your childcare provider. Sometimes, they forget to send receipts for your childcare and these are definitely needed for your taxes.

7 - Talk to your accountant early! Do not wait until it is too late.

8 - Save your work from this year to prepare for next year’s tax season. Work smarter and not harder to prepare for taxes.

Keep these in mind when you are preparing for the deadline of the year. Avoid those late fees and plan to have a great tax season.

Have a great week and plan for the weekend!

Sincerely,

The @WeekendsCount Family!
