Flying During COVID19 - What to Pack and Important Things to Remember

It has been over a year since we boarded an airplane. I usually LOVE flying, but I have a TON of anxiety about the process right now. We still earn airline miles through other programs (like grocery shopping), but it is very difficult for me to wrap my head around flying right now.

From domestic to international trips, our family enjoys traveling to new and tried-and-true destinations. We traveled safely on other trips and we cannot wait to travel safely again. Here are some items that we plan to keep in mind when we book and travel on our next trip.

Before You Leave Home

Make sure you know where your seat is located. Are you aisle, center, or window?

Consider purchasing a hard-sided suitcase (or at least a suitcase that you can place under your seat.

Remember to pack your self-cleaning kit (alcohol wipes, sanitizing spray, gel sanitizer, gloves).

Pack some individually packaged snacks in a gallon sized plastic bag. This will help you if you become hungry in the airport and/or on the plane.

Remember to pack more than one mask in your suitcase (and your carry-on bag). It is definitely important to be prepared (just in case).

During the TSA Check-In Process

Pack all of your loose items together in a common pouch (think about your keys, headphones, etc.). This will decrease the level of contact these items will have with germs and viruses in the check-in process.

Consider using the TSA pre-check process. This will probably decrease the amount of time you will spend in line around other passengers.

Remember to sanitize your hands and potentially your bags.

Before You Board the Plane

Think about visiting an airport lounge before your flight. These bathrooms and eating areas are usually less crowded than normal airport lounges. This potentially means less germs.

Considering bringing a drink with a straw. This might be easier to drink a beverage on the plane.\

When You Board the Plane

Wipe down your tray table when you find your seat.

Remember to sanitize your hands.

Relax, you can do this!

This is actually the checklist that I plan to use when traveling for business and also with my family during the next few months. We are looking forward to it!

Did we miss something from our list? Please add it! This list can help save your family a lot of time when planning your next trip. :)

Have a great week and plan for the weekend!

Sincerely,

The @WeekendsCount Family!

Learn About Fish and Travel with Tam Warner Minton!

Do your kids love fish? Do you love to travel? Do you homeschool your kids?

Then incorporate All Fish Faces by Tam Warner Minton into your next learning unit or family vacation!

All Fish Faces examines tropical reef fish around the world.

This book could be incorporated into a homeschool unit on fish or sea life.  The pictures and descriptions can be used to compare and contrast characteristics of different fish.  If you are teaching fish characteristics, you can show how there are similar characteristics of fish that live in different parts of the world.

This book could also be incorporated into geography lessons by studying the fish that live in a particular region of the world.

Parents can also use the book to extend learning before, during, or after a trip.  For example, many of the fish in the book can be found in Cozumel, Mexico. Cozumel is a common port of call for Caribbean cruises and you can fly there as well.

How might you incorporate this book into a homeschool lesson or family vacation?

Become a Family of Super Flyers with Author Dr. Lori Baudino!

Does the thought of traveling with your children overwhelm you? Would routines to prepare your family for flying help you? Then you'll love hearing from Super Flyers author Dr. Lori Baudino!

Five Reasons Why YOU Need a Variety of Lightening Cable Sizes

As a parent, we are modern day superheroes for our families. We can navigate driving in the rain, protecting our families from storms, and also from waking our children with a bright light when we need to find our cell phone charging cables in the dark.

There are certain situations when parents REALLY need to find cell phone charging cords in the dark. These situations can include...

1 - Charging your cell phones in a hotel without waking the entire room.

2 - Finding the charging cable in your purse (when plugged into a mobile charger)

3 - Leaving for a trip early in the morning and finding those last minute items before departing in the shuttle.

This post contains affiliate links to help you build your shopping list and travel list for your family. We are passionate about the product and the experiences listed in this post, but we also wanted to provide easy links you can click to purchase products for your busy lifestyle.

Also, there are MULTIPLE reasons WHY you should have a variety of charging cord sizes!

1 - You can stretch your 6-foot cord to the back of the car to meet the charging needs of your children.

2 - You can use a 1-foot cord to charge devices in your purse without having a cord dangling from your bag!

3 - You can use a 3-4 foot cord to charge devices in your travel (or everyday backpack).

4 - You can charge items in your office on your desk (while having the 6 foot cord extend to the wall.

5 - You can always have a 1, 3/4, 6 foot cord ready-to-go for all of your parenting adventures, whether day-to-day or seasonal vacations!

We recommend the Aimus [3-Pack] Lightning Cable with LED Light (Black) as a MUST HAVE for travelers! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074DQYFK7
