10 Top Teaching Tools from the Dollar Tree (Great for Summer and Back to School)

10 Top Teaching Tools from the Dollar Tree

Many communities have a Dollar Tree in their community usually located in close proximity to a Walmart store. These stores usually have everything from arts and craft supplies to books. All of the items available for purchase for $1 or less. Here is a list of items that each household should consider having on hand for teachable moments in their household and also while traveling.

1 - Educational Flash Cards - These cards are more affordable than purchasing 3x5 cards and making your own cards. From cards focused on the alphabet and numbers to addition and multiplication cards, this simple purchase can help busy parents help their children.

2 - Word Strips - Instead of cutting strips of paper and writing sight words on each strip, consider purchasing pre-made word strips from the Dollar Tree. These strips are age level or grade specific and focus on a common theme. Some items are school supply related while others are focused on food themes.

3 - Writing and Learning Worksheet Packs - The Dollar Tree has printed packs of writing and learning worksheets for pre-kindergarten children, kindergarten, and 1st grade to 6th grade. These are potentially great for parents and environmentally friendly because they do not require parents to use a printer and ink for worksheets.

4 - Educational Booklets - In addition to worksheet packs, the Dollar Tree has age and grade appropriate books that focus on mathematics, reading, critical thinking (mazes), and coloring.

5 - Science Items - Most Dollar Tree stores have science items for children. These science items usually include: plastic test tubes, plastic tweezers, lab goggles, and bug viewers.

6 - Science Experiment Kits - Some Dollar Tree stores offer science experiment kits that have almost everything in the pack to make your own snow. Other kits are available as well.

7 - Art Supplies - From finger paint and glue to popsicle sticks and markers, the Dollar Tree has most art supplies that families need.

8 - Tools - Dollar Tree stores have plastic tool boxes, screwdrivers, sandpaper, screws, hammers, and other materials needed to construct a toolkit for your children. Older children usually enjoy having their own tool kit with their name on the box.

9 - School Supplies - From folders and scissors to posters and stickers, the Dollar Tree has most school supplies that families need to have on hand when teachers request them for the classroom. Parents can think ahead and purchase additional school supplies for their school children.

Have a great week and plan for the weekend!
