Just Add Milk on the Weekends for an Easy Science Experiment for Children

Can you believe it? It is almost the beginning of the school year. This means that it is crunch time for our At-Home Summer School. Recently, we received the "Just Add Milk - Science and Art Kit" from Griddly Games. This is a great kit for our family because we absolutely love science (especially chemistry and physical science) and my father-in-law wants us to integrate art for our little one as well. This is why the "Just Add Milk - Science and Art Kit" was a great fit for our family!

This kit is perfect for your family to have on hand as a rainy day or a "much too hot to go outside" day. We definitely have those days in Texas. With this kit, you have to watch what happens when you JUST add milk to the color solution!

This kit includes the following items:

5 - heavy absorbency paper sheets
4 - 10ml bottles of food coloring
1 - 10ml bottle of liquid soap
1 - science and art activity booklet

This simple science and art kit is a color way to introduce science and surface tension. Each kit also includes multiple exciting at-home experiments for the entire family!

Tune Into KERA Kids PBS - A 24 Hour Kids Channel for Families

Cartoons? All day? Sign our family up! We love to connect our antenna to the television and watch the over-the-air channels! In the past, we could only receive three to six channels and many of those did not include cartoons during non-morning hours.

So, our little one had to watch Netflix or YouTube during the hours that she could not access her favorite cartoons (i.e. - Wild Kratts, Nature Kat, Daniel Tiger, or Splash and Bubbles. Now, she has a chance to watch all of the shows at any time of the day (even if we have to watch up SUPER early one morning for a 6:00 am flight).

Our local channel, KERA, just released a new 24 hour kids channel (KERA Kids 24/7) that families can access through air or satellite. It is amazing and we will definitely spend many hours during Saturday and Sundays watching her favorite shows!

Here are the KERA Kids Channels within the North Texas Area (KERA, 2017):

Arts and Crafts with Michael's Kids Club!

Looking for fun activities for your kids during the weekend?

Then take the kids to Michael's for kids club for arts and crafts activities!

This Saturday we learned how to make snowmen!

First, my daughter painted the popsicle stick white on both sides.

Next, she painted the snowman's arms.

Afterward, she painted the snowman's eyes.

A piece of cloth was used to make the snowman's hat and scarf.

Our snowman's buttons weren't straight, but my daughter had fun putting them on the snowman.

The snowman also needed a nose.

She added glue to the back of the snowman so that she could apply the arms to the snowman's arms.

Do you have any ideas for arts and craft activities for kids?

Let us know in the comments.
