Talking Points for Kids about American History at Disney Parks

When your family visits Disney, you have an opportunity to share conversations about the past and the future. Here are some fun ways to learn about the future while visiting Disney.

Whether you are a homeschool family or you send your child to public school, you can combine your Disney vacation with learning. Whether you are visiting Magic Kingdom or Epcot, decide which attractions want to make learning experiences for your family.

Considering exploring:
💡 Liberty Square
💡 Frontierland
💡 World Showcase
💡 Carousel of Progress
💡 Hall of Presidents
💡 Imagineering
💡 Mission: Space

Yes, I know...you want your family to have fun, but remember - you can have fun while learning!

Learning about American History at Disney Parks (Disney Land and Disney World) can happen at Magic Kingdom (which has almost everything). You can make history come alive with kids at Disney. You can include conversations about the following:

☀️ The Liberty Tree Tavern in Liberty Square (Magic Kingdom)(amazing relics and talking points for children)

Talking Point - What things do you see that make it look old-fashioned (like the maps, documents, etc)?

☀️ The Liberty Bell Replica in Liberty Square (Magic Kingdom)

Talking Point - Ask them where the actual liberty bell is located? What was the purpose of the bell?

☀️ The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square (Magic Kingdom)

Talking Point - What does a President do?

Talking Point - Do you recognize anyone?

☀️ Tom Sawyer Island at FrontierLand (Magic Kingdom)

Talking Point - Ask your children to watch a YouTube video or read about book about the Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Ask them what they want to explore on the island first?

Talking Point - Does anything on the island remind them of the video or the book?

☀️ Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress in Tomorrow Land at Magic Kingdom

Talking Point - Would you rather live now or back then?

What are some additional talking points you would add?

Sincerely,

Learning about Natural Science at Disney Parks!

Do your kids enjoy natural science? Then make sure to visit these spots on your next Disney vacation!

Future World - EPCOT - Living with the Land

If your kids have any interest in plants or animals, then you should definitely take them on the Living with the Land Ride at EPCOT!  The ride will talk about the importance of agriculture and biotechnology.  The ride also features a hydroponic garden featuring an ecosystem of fish and many kinds of plants.

You will also pass by the Biotechnology Lab where your child can see scientists at work!

Future World - The Seas with Nemo and Friends

Here you can take ride that follows Nemo's journey.  As the ride concludes, your child will see Nemo and friends swimming among real sea creatures with the help of Disney magic and technology.

There are also several aquariums featuring coral reefs, fish, and sea stars!

Future World - EPCOT - SeaBase

If you're lucky, you'll visit the SeaBase when a diver is in the tank.  You can also view a manatee and stingrays!

Future World - EPCOT - Turtle Talk with Crush!

This attraction is great for the little ones who can meet and talk to Crush.  Crush will also teach the little ones about life in the sea.

While waiting for Turtle Talk with Crush, you can visit Mr. Ray's Lagoon where you can see small fish, jellyfish, and an eel!

How do you teach your kids about Natural Science at Disney Parks?

Learning About Physical Science at Disney Parks!

Does your child enjoy race cars? Dream of flying in rocket ships? Then Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are great places to learn about physical science.

TomorrowLand - Magic Kingdom - TomorrowLand Speedway

At the TomorrowLand Speedway, kids can learn about physics (kinematics) concepts like force, motion, speed, velocity, and acceleration while driving!

TomorrowLand - Magic Kingdom - Space Mountain

In addition to learning about kinematics, your child can learn about space in the Space Mountain ride.  However, as of this writing, all riders must be at least 44 inches tall.

TomorrowLand - Magic Kingdom - Astro Orbiter

This is the ride for anyone who dreamed of being an astronaut or riding on a rocket.   You can talk to your child about the concepts of centripetal force since the rockets move in a circle.  You can also talk about the ability of the rockets to move up and down in addition to moving in a circle.

TomorrowLand - Magic Kingdom - TomorrowLand Transit Authority PeopleMover

In addition to being a good rest after walking around the park, the PeopleMover can also be used in a discussion of force and motion.  The ride can also help you decide what you want to do in TomorrowLand since it passes by many of the attractions.

Monorail to EPCOT

You can ride the monorail  to EPCOT and talk about physical science on the way.  You might talk about the amount of force needed to move the monorail and its passengers to EPCOT.  You might also talk about the aerodynamic design features.

Future World - EPCOT - Spaceship Earth

Spaceship Earth provides a tour of technological advances in world history, including the development of the computer.

Future World - EPCOT - Mission SPACE / Advanced Training Lab

The Advanced Training Lab is another place to let your child be an astronaut for a day or imagine he or she is in space with Miles from TomorrowLand.  This is a good place to talk about engineering, computers, planets, stars, moons, and space shuttles.

Future World - EPCOT - Innoventions

Innovations features many exhibits in a facility that seems like a cross between a science museum and a theme park. "Storm Ready" helps kids of all ages learn about the effects of different types of storms.

You can also watch what can happen to a house during a tornado.

"StormStruck" features a severe weather replicator.

The Sum of all Thrills is a ride that lifts riders up in the air and moves them in several directions  using a large robotic arm.

Other great idea for learning physical science include the Test Track and Ellen's Energy Adventure at EPCOT.
